The Oakbrook ExecuNet chapter meeting protocol is unique among the many networking sessions I attend through out the Midwest. Each attendee is required to pick up an handbill or resume from all other attendees. Gail Sussman-Miller as co-moderator, along with Lyndsey Wolfsmith, then closely monitor an around-the-table elevator speech from each attendee.

In a pleasing and effective way, attendees are encouraged to be specific about the roles they want and the target companies they are pursuing. This is a very effective and specific process that generates contacts from the other attendees for that person in almost all instances. And after all, isn't that one of the main reasons we attend networking events? The brisk pace that is set also forces individuals to "stay on point" with their message--I enjoy the sessions immensely.

In a message to Dave Opton, Founder and CEO of ExecuNet, "I also want to let you know that your key contact in Chicago, Gail Sussman Miller, is an exceptional leader and an inspirational counselor to many including me, and a truly genuine individual. Cannot say enough about her and how she motivates those fine executives who need to feel they 'can do it' all over again when they are suddenly 'cast aside'. She is a find for Execunet."

"Caring, compassionate, and highly focused on connecting with people are three things that come to mind when describing Gail no matter what she is doing. In preparation for a presentation to her Execunet attendees, Gail took a lot of time and care with me in making sure that the content I created was perfectly tailored to her audience. Truthfully, I had never come across anyone who was as thorough as she was, which resulted in a very effective and welcomed presentation. Her care and compassion were also evident when speaking to attendees who clearly appreciate and crave her caring and supportive approach. I'd like to think that they are attracted to her authenticity, which simply radiates when you meet her."

Your "forward-able email" for following up with people who offer to make referrals was extremely valuable to me. It is such a positive and effective way to take a more proactive approach to developing your network. I have suggested that approach to many, many fellow jobseekers. I also appreciate the welcoming, constructive atmosphere of the Execunet meetings I attended. Gail, that is a direct result of your nurturing and professional personality. Thank you.

    Dear Gail,

You truly are a special person, one who takes time to encourage and inspire us, but not feel sorry or "baby " us as sometimes we do feel sad along the way of today's search process.

Today's job search is so different from most of our adult life expectations and although we learn to embrace change, we somehow try to believe that what we knew once as a job search, still exists. It does not.
